An eventful week

With the presentation of the federal budget and a motion of non-confidence tabled in the House, this was easily the most eventful week in Ottawa and in all likelihood the last week of the 40th Parliament.

Are there no real issues in this election?

It began just as “The price is Right” might have started. Instead of Bob Barker calling someone down from the audience, we had three leaders talking about what was behind door No. 1, Door No.2 and Door No. 3.

An experiment in democracy

This week at home in the riding my staff and I carried out an experiment in direct democracy. On Wednesday evening we held our first ever federal townhall meeting via telephone, and my immediate impression is that it was a great success and something worth doing again in the future.
