We all have traditions that we enjoy and look forward to each year. But what happens when the traditions that were part of your life change because you move to a country with different customs and traditions. How easily could you embrace the changes?

Last week I wrote my column based on the information available on the Ministry of Health’s NHTG website regarding the Travel Grant program. The Ministry has clarified the changes they have made, by finally providing some clarity on their website and through media releases. As it turns out, the Ministry of Health did make changes to the NHTG program which resulted in the requirement that receipts be produced in order to receive the accommodation component.

In keeping with the giving spirit of this wonderful Christmas season I’d like to shed light on an important development being felt throughout Canada. The use of food banks in Canada is rising dramatically to the point where widespread shortages are now occurring. It is a national problem, but one that can be addressed at the local level.

It is Christmas letter writing season again. Both John Rafferty and Sarah Campbell have sent out letters to all of their constituents wishing them a wonderful holiday season and showing how active that they have been in their ridings. They have also addressed another letter to Santa. Both are again looking for Santa’s intervention on behalf of the Resolute mill in Fort Frances.
Losing over 200 jobs on your watch is not an enviable record to run again on and Sarah is already feeling the heat of a looming provincial election in 2013.
