Be safer and "Just Drive"

The Highway Safety Education Committee (HSEC) of Northwestern Ontario wants drivers to JUST DRIVE. Distracted driving is increasingly the cause of collisions on our highways. Recent studies show that cell phone use and text messaging are as dangerous as impaired driving.
The Insurance Bureau of Canada reports that drivers on cell phones – hand-held or hands-free are four times more likely to crash and numerous studies estimate that 75% of collisions can be attributed to driver distraction.

Police investigate deer/motorcycle collision

On July 24, 2009 at approximately 1:00 pm, Fort Frances OPP officers were dispatched to a motorcycle collision involving a deer. The collision occurred on Mill Road just east of the Fort Frances overpass, when a male driver of a motorcycle was struck by a deer running onto the roadway. The male driver, a resident of Fort Frances, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to LaVerendrye Hospital by ambulance.
