RR wins first two playoff games

The Rainy River Legion Royals continued their stellar season last week winning the first two games of the Rainy River District League Playoffs.

Water levels continue to drop on area lakes and rivers

On August 6, 2002, the International Joint Commission (IJC) revoked its Supplementary Order of June 28, 2002. The IJC took this action after being informed by its International Rainy Lake Board of Control that the conditions requiring the Supplementary Order no longer existed. The water levels of Rainy and Namakan lakes are not both within their IJC operating bands and continue to decline.

Last week Canadian National Railway planned to begin switching train crews in Rainy River again, some six years after they ran through the community to Fort Frances.

Bears maul RR Legion in tourney

It started as a pitcher’s dual but ended up a slug fest as the Pinewood Bears defeated Rainy River in the “A” side finals in the Rainy River Legion Royals Fastball tournament Sunday.
