Almost show time!

The cast and crew of Rainy River High School's Owl Theatre have been busy practising for this Thursday and Friday's performance of Mulan the Musical! It promises to be a very entertaining production

Years of service honoured

Gill Stamler, right, was honoured by the Rainy River Library Board last Wednesday for her 15 years of service on the board. She has retired from the volunteer board. She was presented with a picture taken by Librarian Michael Dawber that was then made into a painting. Presenting her with the picture was Councillor and Library Board Chair Gordon Prost.

Stormy departure!

Old Man Winter tried his darndest to keep the ice on the Rainy River, throwing a winter storm at us last Wednesday. But even the 11 inches of snow that fell was not enough to stop the ice from opening up in front of Hannam Park last Wednesday morning. It was the third earliest ice out on record!

The Champs!

Trevor Bonot-Skip, Jackie McCormick (nee Bonot)-third, Kory Carr-Second and Megan Westlund-lead won the provincial mixed title over the weekend in Fort Frances. They will now represent Northern Ontario at the National Championships this coming November in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

$16,000 donation!

Rainy River Hospital Aux. members took a break from their meeting last Tuesday to present Samantha Manty of Riverside Foundation with a cheque for almost $16,000 to purchase and I-stat blood analyser and six new hospital grade tables for LTC. The Aux. has funded over $100,000 in projects at RR Health Centre since 1997! Super Show!

The Rainy River Figure Skating Club held its annual ice show on Sat. and Sun. with the theme being Superhero Showdown. The members gave stellar performances, including this one by Payton Marken to the song Superheroes!
