We will remember them

Lest We Forget: these three words holds so much meaning for all Canadians from all walks of life, but especially at this time of year during this time of Remembrance. On the 11th day, of the 11th month, around the 11th hour, we gather to remember. We gather at the Legion and the cenotaphs, in schools and churches. We come together to remember the sacrifices made by those brave men and women who have served our country with pride and distinction, and those who have paid the ultimate price for that service.

I hope the idea of Remembrance Day as a holiday is debated

Thursday is Remembrance Day. It used to be a holiday in the district. In many parts of Canada November 11 remains a day to remember fallen and injured soldiers. Schools used to close down. Businesses closed.
That changed. Stores chose to remain open and one by one, the full business community remained open.

Fighting to remove the HST from heat

It was another very busy week all across the riding and on Parliament Hill, with many stories and issues grabbing the spotlight. I want to touch on a few of these events and issues and share my thoughts with you on them.

We could all benefit if Daylight Savings Time was all year!

Darkness falls earlier this coming Sunday night. Daylight savings time ends at 2:00 in the morning on November 7, the latest day that it can fall in the year. I say this with sadness. I wake and go to work in darkness in the morning and with the change of hours, for a short time I will have daylight in the morning with darkness falling earlier and I find myself going home in darkness.
That will then follow going to work in darkness and going home in darkness.
