Feeling a great sense of pride!

Watching the Olympics and the great performances put on by Canadian athletes, including those from the Thunder Bay region, one can’t help but feel a great sense of pride. For me, that pride doesn’t just come from the winning of medals, but also from the monumental effort that is put forward by all of our athletes and the values and principles they uphold while competing at the highest level.

Founded in 1967 by Ray Scott in Montgomery Alabama, Birmingham Alabama celebrated the 2010 Classic in record fashion. For three days the folks of Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, the Carolinas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Missouri have journeyed to the heartland of bass fishing in America.
Everyone who was attending the actual Bassmaster show had to pass by our booth on all three days and on Friday night and Saturday night, the crowd was ushered back through the exhibitor space at the end of the show.

Threats to forestry sector continue

Some recent developments on the forestry file are presenting both challenges and opportunities for the sector in Canada. Unfortunately, the Conservative government’s abandonment of the forestry sector is set to continue which means that the threats to the sector will continue to damage our competitiveness, and the opportunities to move ahead are unlikely to be seized upon.

Korean birthdays can be very confusing

As we celebrated a long weekend with Family Day, the Koreans were celebrating the Lunar New Year. Half the South Korean population was expected to be traveling this past weekend to visit parents and grandparents.
This family holiday is much like a Christmas holiday as Canadians travel to be with family or the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States. Like most cultures, the Koreans celebrate with favourite dishes cakes, cookies and sweets.
