Elevator went down

Last Tuesday local volunteer fire fighters from Rainy River and Dawson Township were called around lunch time to a suspected fire at Riverview Manor on Main St. in Rainy River. A suspicious burning smell from the recently installed elevator prompted the call. It appeared to be electrical in nature. Power was shut off to the elevator and residents were allowed back into the building. RR Fireman Ashley Stamler used a special heat seeking camera to make sure there was no fire in the walls or floor. None was found and no one was hurt.
