DeGagne Award

Aaron Bujold, right, was the recipient of the prestigious DeGagne Award at the annual RR. Dist. 4–H Awards Banquet Friday evening in Stratton. Presenting him with the trophy and a cheque for $250 was Jan Anderson of DeGagne Equipment in Emo.

Provincial Award!

Last Friday, at the RR Dist. 4–H Awards banquet in Stratton, Krista Williams, center, received a newly created provincial award. One in each region of the province, six in total, was presented. Presenting the award were Kim Desserre, left, and Wanda Heyens, both RR. Dist. 4–H Assoc. executive members. She received a limited edition print and a gift basket from Gaylea Foods.

High marks!

Hayden Haw, right, won the RR. Hereford Assoc. Carcass Award for getting the highests grading on a market steer of Hereford influence. Presenting the award was Louis Bujold.

Smelly situation

Rainy River's Fire Department was called to Heritage House Apartments on Sunday when residents reported a strange smell in the building. However, after 45 minutes of investigating, the dept. was unable to find the source of the smell.

That's a wrap!

Rainy River's Junior Curling Program wrapped up their season on Sunday with a family funspiel at the Rainy River Curling Club. After the funspiel they all gathered for a group photo. Funspiel winners!

Great day for fishing!

Grade six students from Riverview School were treated to a fishing trip on the Rainy River last Thursday, just before beginning Spring Break. While they did not catch any fish they had fun! From left to right, Madison Talbot, Olivia Kreger and Chelsea St. Pierre.

Carnival time!

Students at Riverview Elementary School kicked off their Spring Break by having a winter carnival last Thursday afternoon. Students participated in several events including outdoor floor hockey, soccer and bean-bag toss.

Dazzling performance!

The Rainy River Figure Skating Club did not disappoint on Saturday and Sunday with their annual ice show! The theme was Topping the Charts! Skaters performed to songs that have recently topped the charts as can be seen here with Madison and Aynsley Williams, who dazzled the audience to the song, Royals by Lorde.

Grand Opening

All Sew held its Grand Opening on Saturday in downtown Rainy River. Owner and operator Judy Helgeson welcomed many people in to see her store. Mayor Deb Ewald, left, congratulated Helgeson, right, and presented her with a fruit tray on behalf of the Town of Rainy River.
