A prickly situation

A week that will affect so many of us

This was one those dramatic weeks in Ottawa, and it was a week that will affect the lives of each and every resident of the riding of Thunder Bay - Rainy River for years to come. I chose not to support the budget because it failed to properly address the forestry industry crisis, it did nothing to make Employment Insurance more accessible for workers that have and will lose their jobs during this crisis, and it did not adequately respond to the needs of our riding as expressed by you during our cross-riding consultations.

Another good idea gone astray

We know how important the forestry industry is

Last month, several Northern Ontario MP’s and MPP’s met in Thunder Bay in to discuss the challenges facing our forestry sector. Tens of thousands of jobs have already been lost in the sector over the last five years and we used this meeting to discuss the effect this has had upon our families and to find new ways to get all levels of government to cooperate so that we can protect the jobs that remain.
