A home sick 16 year old college student Ben Ram penned the lyrics “I’ll be home for Christmas” that in 1943 Bing Crosby made famous. The lyrics recorded by Crosby were different and written by Kim Gannon and Walter Kent. That year it became number 11 on the charts.
It has become a favorite throughout the world. It was the middle of the Second World War and the song pulled at the heartstrings of parents whose sons were in service.
It continues to be a Christmas favorite of troops serving in the US military around the world

After 911, in airports around the world metal cutlery disappeared from the restaurants inside the security area. Today having watched the performance of Canadian politicians, I wonder if the cutlery is going to disappear from the member’s dining room on Parliament Hill.
Following the election, all the members talked nice, letting the public know that they had received the message that they were to work together. It now appears that what they were saying to the public and what they were planning behind closed doors was completely different.

This week the Stephen Harper government presented its Economic Update and showed that it is completely out of touch with the needs of the people of Thunder Bay – Rainy River. The government has failed to assist what I and others call the “Real Economy.”
In a nutshell, the Real Economy is you. It is your job, your mortgage, and your pension. GDP numbers, the value of the dollar, and macroeconomic growth are very important when discussing economic issues, but how these things actually affect you is my concern. My concern is for the Real Economy.
