The weather was perfect for the 32nd Rainy River Open Golf Tournament held on Aug. 5, 2007 at Oak Harbor Golf Course in Baudette.
45 golfers, 38 men and seven women took to the course in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. for two rounds of nine holes.

War vet revisits Korea, 50+ years later

Former Rainy River resident Leonard Proteau recently presented the Rainy River Legion with two flags from South Korea to display.
Proteau, a Korean War Veteran, received the flags from children while visiting that country for a week in April as part of a contingent sent there by the Canadian government. “They do this regularly and I decided to apply to go,” said Proteau. He was part of a group of veterans from Canada, Australia, England and New Zealand.

There was plenty of “Fun” for everyone at the Fourth Annual Bergland Family Fun Day this past Sunday.
The day began with kids activities that included games, a visit from Sparkie the Fire Dog, face painting, water-balloon tosses, etc.

A benefit is being held for the Rod and Nikki Sinninghe family of Rainy River to help with expenses connected to their newborn baby Kenna who had major medical problems when she arrived on June 30th.
