Lake of the Woods Reeve Pizey discovers $600,000 accounting error in our favour

The Lake of the Woods Township met on Feb. 3rd at the Bergland Council Chambers. Present were Councillors Bill Lundgren, Alfred Gate, Ernie McCormack, and Colleen Fadden, Mayor Valerie Pizey, Clerk-Treasurer Pat Giles, Road Supt. Ed Pearson, visitors Mike Stanger, Sherri and Colin Harris and Shane White.

Agriculture Policy Framework approved

Ontario Minister of Agriculture and Food Minister Steve Peters and Federal Minister of Agriculture Lyle Vanclief announced that Ontario signed an agreement to implement the Agriculture Policy Framework on December 11, 2003.

Valid safety course needed to buy and apply pesticides

You must have a valid Grower Pesticide Safety Course (GPSC) certificate before you can purchase, apply, store and/or dispose of any Schedule 1, 2 or 5 pesticide on the land your farm. In addition, all agricultural workers who handle and apply Schedule 2 or 5 pesticides must either be certified through the Grower Pesticide Safety Course, or they must be Trained Assistants (TA’s) who work under the supervision of a Certified Grower. TA training must be renewed every 5 years.
