CIBC turns 100

As Rainy River’s centennial approaches, a number of its pillars also have reached or will be reaching that milestone and CIBC is one of them.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Henry (Bud) Philip Jarvis on November 23, 2003 at the Rainy River Health Centre in Rainy River, Ontario.

Centennial committee raises about $3,500 with the help of “Ivanka” last Saturday

Rainy River and area citizens were treated to to the comedy of “Ivanka” last Saturday at the Rainy River Community Centre. The event was held to raise money to help pay for the Rainy River Centennial festivities next year and it raised about $3,500 for the cause. Just over 200 tickets were sold for the event.

Cows need to lie down on the job!

If your milk production is down, maybe it’s because your cows aren’t lying down on the job. Researchers at the University of Guelph have found that dairy cows may not spend as much time lying in their stalls as previously thought. That could be significant because the amount of time a cow spends lying down is believed to be an indication of well-being, which aids productivity.

While he lived only a short time in Rainy River before moving to International Falls, Minnesota, one of the most famous and highly decorated football players in U.S.

I addition to the usual excitement and anticipation that accompanies the annual Rainy River District Fastball League awards banquet, this year’s event had a very emotional tone to it as the late umpire Kingsley Downs was inducted into the league’s hall of fame.
