Fitness fun

On Wednesday, November 7 Jackie Lampi-Hughes from the Energy Fitness Centre came to our school and danced away the afternoon with out kids from JK to 8. She took each class for a half hour of high intensity aerobic workouts to music. The kids loved it and Jackie was amazing.

Laying

Thunder Bay Telephone had crews in Rainy River over the past couple of weeks to lay a dedicated high speed internet line from their tower just north of the railway tracks down to the Rainy River Hospital.
They turned a lot of heads and had people wondering what they were doing, but the work is now completed and will soon be nothing more than a memory.

As The Last Post was played by Dr. Dave Singleton of Rainy River (not seen in photo), Legion Sgt. At Arms Terry Cooper, right, lowered the Canadian Flag to half mast while the crowd looked on. About 200 people attended Remembrance Day services in Rainy River on Sunday. More photos inside.

Teachers Saluted!

Seven teachers from the Rainy River District School Board were presented with a certificate on Friday after completing an intensive and specialized year-long Reading Recovery training program. The program helps to support young children who are struggling with reading and writing.

Volunteer of the Year

Gord Armstrong of Rainy River was pleasantly surprised to learn he was nominated and even more surprised when he won the FF Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award over the weekend.
