In the past few weeks strange signs marking meterage from somewhere to near Rainy River have appeared every two kilometres along Highway 11. Plenty of people think it is the distance of Yonge St., stretching from Toronto to the end of Yonge here in Rainy River. However, according to the internet Yonge St., once touted as the Longest Street in the World, is 1,896 km. long. From the sign above, the last one, heading west to the end of Yonge is another 7 km. That makes 1,889. Calls were made but not returned from MTO.
