The Balsma Fir

This is one of the widespread trees of eastern North America. Its scientific name is Abies balsamea, commonly known as Balsam or Fir, or both.

It was a busy year!

2013 was a busy year and one which will not be forgotten anytime soon by this Member of Parliament. The Senate Scandal, another monster omnibus budget bill, the Senate Scandal, prorogation, the Senate Scandal, and the announcement of the new energy policy of Canada’s NDP were highlights for me.

Santa, Please make this a short winter

The blue white cold of Saturday and Sunday clearly heralded that winter was in its full delightful dress. Hoar frost clung to the trees. Ice crystals hanging in the air created giant rainbows. The crunch and squeaking of the snow underfoot squealed. Winter cold was penetrating everywhere. Winter has come fast to our area of the world. It has come with equal speed and ferocity to most of North America.
