Jackson, Hayley and Skylar Arpin came in third overall and 1st in the Jr. Growing category with this 434 lb. pumpkin they grew at their grandpa's place where the first and second place pumpkins this year were also grown!

Saragh Fraser of Rainy River was ranked 11th in the MN Single A XC rankings poll last week.
This is quite a feat for an individual to be ranked so high.

Eltjo Wiersema never expected to win the pumpkin festival this year with a 467 lb. pumpkin when the last two years they have been winning with 900+ lb. pumpkins. But a poor growing season was to blame and that allowed him to win the coveted Golden Hoe and $1,000!

Volunteers put the big tent up a the Rainy River marina over the weekend, signifying the upcoming Rainy River Live Release Walleye Tournament. Watch next week's Record for a special pull out Walleye Edition. The tournament runs Sept. 25-27th in Rainy River.

O.P.P. Chief Superintendent Mike Armstrong, right, presents long time RR O.P.P. officer Greg Brown with one of the many certificates and plaques recognizing his 30+ years of service, many of which he spent in Rainy River. Brown retired on June 30, 2008. He started in April of 1978.

Ansgar and Betty Ann Lucke of Pinewood were the first ones to arrive in Rainy River for the Alzheimer Ride for Memories that raised $33,000 on Saturday.
