Crowning moment!

Thunder Bay-Rainy River M.P. John Rafferty, left, surprised Gerry Marchuk,right, at the RR Legion's Remembrance Day Banquet Sunday, when he presented him with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for community service. Marchuk served in the Legion and on Town Council for more than three decades.

Sr. Champs and NWOSSA bound!

RRHS Sr. girls basketball team won NorWOSSAs last Wednesday in Kenora, defeating the hometown team, St. Thomas Aquinas Saints 34-31. This earned the OWLS a berth to NWOSSAs this Thursday and Friday to play Marathon in the best out of three games. If they win there they go to the All Ontarios! Junior Champs!

RRHS Jr. girls basketball team won NorWOSSAs last Wednesday in Kenora, defeating the hometown team, St. Thomas Aquinas Saints 26-13. Unfortunately this means an end to the Jr. season as they do not move on at this level. Meal with a "mission"

Students and staff of Our Lady of the Way School shared a meal in celebration of Mission Month. Staff members prepared the spaghetti and bannock for students with the help of some students, and donations for Missions were accepted for the meal. Seen here, Cameron Fraser and Marcus Medicine who were truly engaged in the spirit of sharing and friendship!

Queen's Jubilee Medal

Linda Armstrong, left, of Sleeman was presented with the Queen's Jubilee Medal on Friday at the Rainy River Federation of Agriculture's annual meeting. Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty, right, was on hand to present it. She was honoured for her many years of volunteer service to the RRFA and other community groups.
