Efforts recognized

Several representatives from various workplaces across the region were presented with certificates for leadership in preventing domestic violence. $1,000 donation!

The Rainy River United Church Women donated $1,000 to the RR Locum House last Friday. The money was raised at a lasagna dinner on Feb. 14th at the United Church. At left, Debbie Armstrong of the UCW, presents the cheque to Mayor Debbie Ewald. To date $183,000 has been raised for the project with $160,000 left. The house will house doctors that practise here for short periods of time, providing relief for full time doctors.

Family Day Fun!

“This impressive Great Gray Owl was one of four seen February 15 during the Great Backyard Bird Count. The Count is held in February each year to check on bird numbers and bird health. The Great Gray Owls were spotted at the corner of Highway 621 and Blue Road 4, south of Gameland.”

Charitable efforts

Students and staff of Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton recently participated in the “Water Rafiki Friend Chain”, and the “We Create Change” National Penny Drop-off. All of the funds raised are in support of “Free the Children’s” Water Initiatives with the goal being to help provide 100,000 people in developing communities with permanent sources of clean water for drinking and food preparation.
