Eight municipalities an two municipally unorganized areas in Northwestern Ontario were declared disaster areas by Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Chris Hodgson, making them eligible for funding under the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP). The announcement was made by Northern Development and Mines Minister Dan Newman.

Two meetings last week saw over 100 people from the Lake of the Woods area turnout. They were meetings to discuss the effects the high water levels of the past summer had on the south side of the lake and how the Lake of the Woods Water Control Board dealt with them.
