Volunteers Gord Armstrong, left, and Gerry Marchuk, right, travelled to Fort Frances to pick up 22 Christmas hampers for families in and around Rainy River this past Monday. The Salvation Army has been helping families in Rainy River by providing Christmas hampers for more than 30 years. Each of the Rainy River hampers received either a turkey or ham that was donated by the Rainy River Legion. Marchuk, Legion President is seen here presenting one of them to Armstrong. The hampers were delivered to the Service Ontario office Monday where families came to pick them up.

Riverview School in Rainy River held its annual Christmas Tea on Friday and had a huge turnout. As seen above the tables filled up quickly and there were people lined up out the doors. The event is always popular and is a good fundraiser for the school.
