It didn't look good for Connie Hooper and Joey Halverson in the Family Class when they nearly tipped over just out of the starting gates. But they recovered and came back to win the heat and eventually the first place trophy in the Family Class with a time of 1:57!

The defending Great Beaver Cardboard Duct Tape Boat Racing Champs (Adult class), Mark and Colin Pich, left found out that the races were going to the birds when the Duct Tape Ducks, Mitch Haw and Alexis Sharp, took off and ended up winning the adult title and Best Theme this year as well. The Pichs ended up sinking about 15 feet from shore.

Young Summer Readers show off their artistic skills at the Rainy River Public Library on July 8. The Summer Reading program has a storytime with crafts every Friday, and a reading competition with prizes.

Matt & Dave Turgeon of Hornpayne, ON prepare to leave Rainy River on Monday, July 11. They left on their canoe trip from Vancouver April 13 and are about halfway to their destination Montreal where the expect to arrive in early fall.

Susan Douglas of Rainy River submitted this photo of a bird that they feel is out of place here. She said that they think it is a Tundra Swan as they feel that not the head of a Trumpeter Swan. Do you know what species it is. They think the bird may have followed geese here.
