Rainy River KidSport Chair, Rebecca Tolen, right, presented Veronica Brown of Bemidji, MN, with the winning duck, #117. Brown accepted on behalf of her brother, Riley and mom Kim and step-dad Ken Johnston. Together they won $527.50!

The Rainy River Volunteer Fire Dept. did not dissappoint the crowd gathered on the waterfront this past Friday to celebrate Canada Day! One of the 12 teams participating in the 2nd Annual Rainy River Relay for Life Friday had trouble keeping its members grounded! All members of the Incredibles, they had to work hard to keep their super powers in check, as seen here when Ashley "Incredible" Stamler, took flight ahead of the team in the team parade!

The Rainy River chapter of the Red Hat Society had fun dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland for the annual Relay for Life. Janet Wolanicki is seen here leading the team which was also named a Dream Team for raising mroe than $3,000!

At left, The Curious Girls team was named one of two Dream Teams for raising more than $3,000 by last Monday. In fact they raised over $5,600 by that date and were presented with a certificate naming them a Dream Team. The other Dream Team was the RR Red Hat Society who raised nearly $3,100!

Cancer survivors were encouraged to kick off the 2011 Rainy River Relay for Life with a Victory Lap around the track. They were lead by a bag piper and the fact that so many survivors participated gave the relay teams an added boost to their spirits, knowing that there is hope!
