Who better to entertain and say "Thank you! Thank you very much!" than Elvis (a.k.a. Vaughn Murray) at the Rainy River House fundraiser Saturday in Rainy River. More than 200 people turned up to support the Rainy River House project (see story on this website).

New authors!

The Jr. and Sr. Kindergarten students at Riverview School recently became authors when they collectively crafted their first book "I am as Sharp as a Pencil." It is a collection of self portraits. Newly re-elected!

Newly re-elected Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Rainy River, John Rafferty, enjoyed a different pace on Saturday. The campaign over, he now was able to chat with people, including Deanie Lunyk of Naughty Pine Riding Ranch, at the RR Trade Show, without trying to win their votes!

New sign

The Manitoba, Ontario, Minnesota or Mom's Way Sign was recently upgraded just east of Winnipeg. The sign promotes an alternate route between Winnipeg and Thunder Bay via Minnesota.

It's tea time!

Karen Andrews, left, of Sioux Narrows, joined her mom, Mary Kearney, centre and Karen Gushulak, both of Rainy River for Strawberry Shortcake and tea/coffee last Wednesday in Rainy River. Serving is Valerie Lauzon of the Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary, who hosted the event as one of their annual fundraisers.

Rainy River Mayor Deb Ewald, left, presented long time town crew employee Cam Hanson with a Town of Rainy River Jacket in appreciation of his years of service to the community. This is a new tradition which was recently started when long time councillors Gerry Marchuk and Marilyn McAlister retired from public service.
