Last leg of relay

Kids and their parents had to team up and carry a bean bag on their head across a line and then back between their legs as part of the family relay race at Rainy River's Family Day 2010 Monday. This was one of many parts to the relay which included other fun activities like a three-legged race, snow-shoeing and obstacle course. Crystal Stamler is seen here carrying a bean bag back.

How high will it go?

Everywhere one looks in Rainy River there is a lot of snow! This pile next to the soon to be demolished Rainy River Hotel, keeps getting bigger. While it seems we have had great deal of snow, we thought it would be interesting to see how we have faired to date this year. As of Monday the Record's weatherman, Uncle Bob Johnston, said we have had 48.2 inches this winter. Last year at this time we had 48.16 inches! So nearly identical! In 2007/08 we had 25.45 inches of snow. In 2006/07 we had 18 inches, but Johnston said it did rain a lot that winter.
