The different schedules of pesticides in Ontario

In Ontario, pesticides are classified into six Schedules. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) takes a careful look at every pesticide before it is sold in Ontario. The MOE then puts each product into one of the six Schedules, depending on how dangerous the product is. New building codes include better energy efficiency

TORONTO, Dec. 29 /CNW/ - One of the initiatives by the McGuinty government to promote Ontario’s culture of conservation will be realized on December 31, 2006 when the 2006 Building Code, with higher energy efficiency requirements, comes into effect.

US proposes lifting more restrictions on Canadian beef

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service today announced a proposal to expand the list of allowable imports from countries recognized as presenting a minimal risk of introducing bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) into the United States. Currently, Canada is the only minimal-risk country designated by the United States.

With just under three weeks before two high school hockey teams, the Lake of the Woods Bears and the St. Paul Johnson Governors, face off during the Baudette Bay Hockey Classic, preparation for the game on January 20th is in full swing. Just before Christmas many locals witnessed the erection of the rink on the Baudette Bay. Lead by the volunteer efforts of Keith Block of Lake Area Construction, a team of nearly a dozen other volunteers took on the task of placing the boards on the Bay.
