Prize winners!

Five residents at Rainy River's Long Term Care facility recently decorated the 40 lb. pumpkin they grew there and entered it in the Bergland Pumpkin contest and won a trophy! Fr. l. to r., Gerda Peterson, Scott Gosnell, Gerry Smart, Rose Roe and Doreen Antonson.

Quilters' delight!

Laurie Pentney, was one of many quilting enthusiasts at the Rainy River Quilt Show held this past Saturday at the Rainy River Covenant Church. She is seen here checking out one of the many on display wondering if she could make it since she is a quilter too. Proceeds from the event went to the Rainy River Locum House Project.

Bump!

Above, the RRHS junior boys volleyball team lost a close match last Thursday, 3-2 against Whitefish Bay. The sr. boys lost three straight to WFB. On Wed. both jr. and sr. girls basketball teams won 52-10 and 40-16 respectively. Jr. boys v-ball won three straight and sr. boys won 3-1. Atikokan was at RRHS yesterday but results were not ready at press time. The teams are on the road this week and if the senior girls win all their games they could host NORWOSSA playoffs in RR.

It's official!

Sarah Campbell, right, was officially sworn in last Thursday at Queen's Park in Toronto. She was recently elected as M.P.P. for Kenora-Rainy River, replacing long time politician Howard Hampton.

Treat for Locum House

The Rainy River Hospital Auxiliary were proud to present a check for $10,000.00 to the Locum House project. Presenting the cheque to Mayor Ewald were Dawn Jarvis (l) and Joyce Penner (r). The money was raised from past fundraising events.

Boo-tification committee busy

The Town Beautification Committee has been busy getting ready for Halloween. Millie the town mascot was decorated last week with a witch's costume, broom, hat, cap, pumpkins and all.
