Riverview School's gr. 7/8 girls volleyball team came home with gold medals after a tournament in Fort Frances over the weekend!

The 50+ year old international automobile bridge between Rainy River, Ont. and Baudette, Mn. is nearing the end of its life. Corrosion, impacts and age have put the bridge on track to be replaced later this decade. This photo, taken by MnDOT, shows cracks in the concrete and rust on the bridge. The photo was one of many shown to a border working group last year to stress the importance for replacing the bridge.

The RRHS Jr. Girls won NORWOSSA gold last Wednesday at home! As the last post played, the crowd grew silent and the flag was lowered and then raised by Don Fraser. Over 60 wreathes were laid at the Rainy River cenotaph Friday in memory of many who lost their lives in the name of freedom.

Rainy River Community Trails Committee members Heidi Ivall, left, and Meghan Shanks unveiled the new signs at the head of the community trails which are now open and almost completed. The signs feature a map of where the trails go in Rainy River.

Lake of the Woods Reeve Val Pizey, left, and Linda Armstrong of Dawson, were recently recognized by the province for serving 25 years on municipal councils. They posed for a photo on Friday with the giant certificate they received from the province.

Seven home party businesses held a Ladies Night Out party last Friday at the Rainy River Library. Turnout was good and organizers feel they will do it again. Above, Rose Tetu, left, and Dawn Jarvis, center, are shown a Miche hand bag by vender, Lisa Stone.
