Book sale a huge success!

Dear Editor
Recently I held a book fair at the High School in conjunction with Chapters
and would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the staff and
community members that either helped out or bought a book.

Ink gets results-Stolen hats returned-Letter to the Editor

Just a little ink and paper and we get results. Found. Yes, found. One hat,
two hats. Yes, two hats of our sons went missing from school since the new
school year.

Book sale a huge success!

Ink gets results Stolen hats returned

Searching for hat thief

Stolen. Yes, stolen. Not borrowed or misplaced, but stolen. Our son is a grade seven student at Riverview school. He had a fox racing hat (that is the name brand) stolen from him at school. No, not one hat, but two fox racing hats. This has happened since the new school year.

Pinewood resident shocked by post office closure

It was with great shock that the community of Pinewood and the surrounding area was informed by the federal government that the post office would be closed! The Post-Mistress had very little prior knowledge that this was to happen. In fact it was a phone call late in the evening, from her boss, that bore the grim news.

Frustrated and disillusioned

Dear Editor:
In response to your article, “Council holds meeting on downsizing.”

Is Best Start the right answer for our schools?

Recently I attended an educational meeting held in the Rainy High School where representatives of the Ontario government were unveiling their new concept of learning. I left the meeting with a fear that I hadn’t felt since I spent a work week in Quetico Center with the author of the “Living and Learning” open concept, which changed the system in the 1970’s.

Your work does not go unnoticed

Letter to the editor,
I’d just like for you to know Ken, that I’ve been receiving the “Rainy River Record” here through my dad for the past couple of years or so, and I “really” like to be kept up to date on the comings and goings around the town.

In response to the coverage and comments

Letter to the editor,
If your purpose in writing this article was to stir up bitter feelings towards Council and the Town of Rainy River from the citizens of Dawson, you have accomplished it. In the weeks since your “comprehensive article”, there have been many disparaging remarks about our members of council concerning this issue.
