Moving the goal posts to suit

Tracy Parsons

Dear Editor,
A proposal giving the U.S. Department of Commerce everything it has been seeking but has been unable to win before WTO and NAFTA panels “could figure in discussions with the Americans as early as next week.” All tribunals have found claims that Canadian forest management practices perceived by the Americans as providing lumber exporters with advantages to be unfounded.

We make good use of the Rainy River

Mrs. Bernice

Dear Editor,
I have really enjoyed reading the Rainy River Record for the past few months. I was particularly interested in knowing who I would meet during the centennial. I was rather disappointed how few people I met even though I knew they were somewhere in town. On the other hand, it was great for Rainy River that so many people returned and couldn’t even be found in our small picturesque town.

In support of Palliative Care

Lisa Bolen

Dear Editor,
My name is Lisa Bolen and I am both a former resident of the area and a fourth year nursing student at the University of Manitoba. I am writing in response to the article “Palliative care volunteers sought” by Wilma Sletmoen in the February 8 edition.

Article prompted more research

Doug Anderson

Deart Record Staff,
Your article on my Great Uncle, Eddie Joseph Anderson prompted me to do some more rummaging through my old photos and records. Indeed, the Anderson you wrote about who died in WWI was my great uncle.

Thanks for remembering

Doug Anderson

Dear Editor,
I want to congratulate you on printing the stories of the heroes of WWI in your paper. I agree, these people should not be forgotten. I heard about the school project on CBC radio last fall. My great uncle is Eddie J Anderson. I think he is the person who appeared in your last issue, but there are some contradictions.

We need your help

Gord Armstrong.

Dear Editor,
Over the past couple years, much talk has taken place that the Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River is planning to construct a new facility. Yes, we are excited in that we are endeavoring to build a much larger handicap accessible structure.

–Dennis Brown, Chair
On behalf of the Rainycrest Board of Management

Letter to the editor,
The Board has been asked to clarify certain issues related to the operations and management of Rainycrest Home for the Aged. Hoping the following clarifies matters and satisfies the concerns forwarded.

Doing what we can

–Tom Cochrane

To the Editor,
Friends from Vancouver were staying with us over the holidays and we all watched the morning news on the 28th in a collective state of shock as the latest footage from Asia came rolling across the TV screen.
