Did you see what I saw last week?
The birds are starting to flock.
I was astounded to see the geese flying over Rainy River last week in the middle of August.

Gill and Hanson duo win second M.B.I.

It was very close after day 1 of fishing at the Morson Bass International tournament. Only 1.52 lbs. separated the sixth and first place spots.
It was even closer between 1st and 2nd. At the top of the pack after day 1 it was Doug Vandersteen and Mark Pentney with 16.92 lbs. Right behind them was last year’s second place finishers Terry Gill (Morson) and Chad Hanson (Fort Frances) with 16.87 lbs.

The Sight & Sound Wolves staved off elimination in the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs last Thursday with a 6-3 road victory over Barwick.
The Wolves played solid team defence behind starter Bob Andy and were the beneficeries of some timely hitting in the win.

After more than three long months of research and fact-finding by the Board of Directors of the Rainy River District Regional Abattoir (RRDRA), the results were presented to members Thursday night at the Barwick Community Centre.

Hi, my name is Ashley Jewett and I am 16 years old. I’m currently attending Grade 10 in Rainy River High School, but this fall I will be starting Grade 11.
I live in Stratton with my parents, Blaine and Connie, my two sisters, Megan and Emily, and my two brothers, Kyle and Brandon. I enjoy all sports, as well as camping, swimming, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends.
My future plans are to attend university and become a pediatrician.

Have you ever eaten flowers? No? Well I bet you have and you didn’t realize it. Did you know that broccoli, cauliflower, and artichokes are all flowers? Also the spice saffron is the stamen from the crocus flower?

Annual fish fry and a whole lot more at Morson Bass International

Laurie Pentney presided over the July 27th meeting of the Morson W.I.
Plans were made for the Saturday August l9th fish fry at the 2nd Annual International Morson Bass International. It was decided that because of the higher prices we are paying for fish etc. this year, to raise the price of the adult’s meal to $13.00 and the children’s meal to $7.00.

We seem to be always impressed by the large, showy flowers - the roses, peonies and so on. Often, we miss the exquisite little ones which are almost under our feet, so to speak.
