After 16 years no one will be yelling “Bingo” on Tuesdays in Bergland anymore. This evening, August 29th, will be the last Tuesday night weekly bingo night at the Bergland Hall.

The Morson Bass International kids tournament grew this year from 19 kids last year to 25 this year and their fishing was equally impressive Saturday afternoon.
Last year’s champ, Tyler Thunder of Rainy River caught the first fish of the day and did not stop until he had secured the title for a second year running.

Highway 11 closed over weekend due to accident

On August 18th, shortly before noon, officers from the Emo Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated a single motor vehicle collision on Highway #11, approximately 2 kilometers east of Emo. An eastbound tractor-trailer unit hauling gasoline and diesel fuel attempted to pass a road-painting vehicle on the south gravel shoulder.

Little children, at times, can truly be the best examples of how we are to live out our faith.
Have you ever witnessed a 6-year old in the aisles of a toy store? Or a 10-year old as he enters the gates of an amusement park on a hot summer day? For both of these children, the world is at their fingertips, and they’ll undoubtedly seek to make the most they can out of their day. We know that they are overflowing with excitement, and will not be timid in making all of their wishes known to Mom and Dad.

Here, in Northern Ontario, we don’t have many species of gulls. Actually, in all of Canada, there are only about 20 or so species, altogether. Here in the north, we really have only two which nest here a lot, and a couple of others which visit us for a time. There are several species which nest away north of us, but may stray through, coming and going.
