Lives have been lost and hay crops destroyed because of spontaneous combustion. If the hay crop is put into the mow above 20-25% moisture content, spontaneous combustion may occur.

This is the smallest of three major basses. Most serious bass fishermen don’t have much respect for this small member. It is, however, much beloved by young folk learning to fish. It is quite easy to catch, and will take as bait almost anything.

As if the boaters competing in the 4th Annual Rainy River Great Beaver Duct Tape Boat Races did not have enough to worry about with rumours about an Ogo Pogo monster being loose... word circulated about a 1,000 lb. sturgeon being caught at the mouth of the river last week.

The Second Annual Rainy River Music Fest is set to take centre stage this Sunday at Hannam Park in Rainy River.
Sponsored by the Rainy River Evangelical Covenant Church, the Fest will feature area musicians singing religiously themed music. Returning to the Fest this year are The Longneckers, The Messengers (Gerry Jolicouer and Co.), GIFT, Caitlyn (nee Dyck) Friesen, Heidi Ivall and the Mast Family.

This time next year there will lots of people yelling “Fore” at Spruce Creek Golf Course just south of Morson.
Work on the nine hole course is ahead of schedule thanks to the good weather this summer and course architect Dave Grant couldn’t be more pleased with the way things have gone.

Skateboarding has reached new popularity heights in recent years and that fact is evident on the streets of Rainy River and its neighbours.
Capitalizing on the popularity of the sport, Austin Hatch, 15, of Bergland has opened a new business in the area. Candyshop Skates, derives its name from his mother’s former business Erin’s Candy, but has nothing to do with candy. In fact it is all about skateboarding and being the only supplier of equipment for skaters in the Rainy River catchment area.
