Ball season begins

Rainy River’s fastball season started last Tuesday with Stratton visiting the defending league champs from last year.
Both teams played tight defense in the first three innings with only three Stratton players making it on base and two RR players doing the same.

Girls tracksters finish first in their conference

The track team had their Conference Meet on Tuesday May 16th, and the girls continued their streak, getting 1st in the conference meet for the 8th year in a row.

When starting seeds indoors you do not have to worry about the weather, insects or the myriad of plant diseases and fungi that can affect your outdoor vegetables, trees or flowers. There is one disease that you must be concerned with when starting seedlings in the house or greenhouse and directly in the garden, called damping-off and it can quickly turn the initial joy of seeing your young seedlings poke through the soil and start to grow into a complete crop failure almost overnight.

Passport requirement delayed 18 months

“Hold off getting your passport,” said Jerry Fisher of Morson Tuesday.
The official implementation date of requiring both US and Canadian citizens to have a valid passport to enter into the United States has been delayed to June 1, 2009. That is 18 months later than the original date.

Strawberry social is tomorrow

Twelve members came to our regular meeting and as usual we opened with the auxiliary prayer.

The last minutes were read and approved. In business arising from the minutes, it was noted we had a booth at the Health and Wellness Fair, and helped serve the lunch. Also several of our members attended a meeting regarding the Beautification of the town, and we will participate.

Hunter fined for shooting decoy

An Ear Falls man has been fined $700 for shooting at a deer decoy across a highway, $1,500 for hunting without a licence and $100 for not wearing hunter orange.
Robert Boucha, 36, who pleaded guilty, has been banned from hunting for a year.
