Rainy River Record

Len Proteau, center, of Niagra Falls and formerly from Rainy River, donated several items to the Legion last weekend. They included a 1952 Korean War Shell Dressing, an unopened 25th Canadian Infrantry Brigade deck of cards, a historical record book and a numbered plate commemorating the 50th Anniv. of the Korean war. On hand was Rainy River Korean War Veteran, Harry Arnould, right and accepting the donation was RR Legion President Walter Wagner, left.

Brayden Delvecchio, left, was the top dog at this year's Rainy River Open Golf Tournament! It was held at Oak Harbor Golf Course in Baudette this past Sunday. Hillary Hansen won the women's title. Tournament organizer, Bob McGreevy, right, presented Delvecchio with the championship trophy.

Oliver Gibbins, left, and Pat Gibbins, right, won the 2nd Annual Ken Pentney Memorial Golf Tournament held at Spruce Creek Golf Course two weekends ago near Morson, Ont. Course owner, Laurie Pentney did the honour of presenting them with their prize.

Rainy River's Knox United Church will soon be more accomodating to its congregation. Work began last week on an elevator which will make access to the church more friendly for handi-capped and seniors alike. Greg Lundgren Construction is doing the work.

The RR Dist Fastball League's annual all star game was held in Big Grassy last Thursday. Backrow Left to Right; Tom Vanderbrand, Jeff Morrison, Rob McGinnis, Will Derkson, Guy Arpin, Justin Wagner, Luc Desserre and Kyle Copenace. Front; Kevin Copenace, Brian Hookimawillellene, Chris Jack, Logan Jackson, Darren Smith and Ryder Woolsey.

The RR Dist Fastball Leagues annual all star game was called due to bad weather last Thursday. Team #1 was winning 3-2 after four innings.
