Last Wednesday Miller Construction demolished one of the last eyesores on Rainy River's Main St. The building in the 200 block, across from RR Drugs, has been vacant for many years and has not been a service station since the 1960s.

Jared Funk gave an empowering speech on his achievements as a wheelchair athlete, showing RRHS students anything is possible. He even brought his Olympic Silver Medal to show the students.

Four members of the Winnipge Blue Bomber's Cheer Team visited RRHS on WE Day and pumped things up. Amie Seguin, front right, a RRHS student was able to join in cheering on the wheelchair rugby game.

The grade 3/4 class from Riverview School had already picked up many bags of garbage by the time they reached the RR Record office on Monday morning. They were particpating, along with the rest of the elementary school, in the annual town cleanup.

Leslie Morrison, left, and Oliver Gibbins, are both veteran anglers on the Rainy River. This past weekend that experience paid off as they won the Emo Walleye Classic with a two day weight of 20.16 lbs. They are seen here with their trophies and the tournament's championship trophy! They also received $4,000 in cash. For complete prize list see page eleven.

Over the past several weeks area young people have been participating in a Junior Firefighter Program hosted by the Rainy River River Volunteer Fire Department. They learned many facets of fighting fires including using a hose, fire extinguisher and the jaws of life. On Friday they held their graduation and showed off their new found skills for family and friends.

Nicholas Sharp, 12 weeks, attended his first Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce Trade Show on Saturday. He is held by his grandma, Theresa Sharp and they are visiting with his Great, Great Aunt Linda Armstrong who was working the Ontario Federation of Agriculture Booth. Despite the cold weather more than 300 people attended the show.
