$500 donation

It is about time!

With winter hanging on this year, everyone has been chomping at the bit for Spring to arrive! Well a sure sign of the season arrived last Thursday, April 11, 2013, when the Rainy River opened up in front of the Town of Rainy River. By Noon there was a small sliver of water open in front of the Government Dock. By late that night it was wide open!

Kitchen fire

The Rainy River Volunteer Fire Dept. was called last Wednesday to Riverview Manor at 110 Fourth St. in Rainy River. An unattended frying pan caused considerable smoke in the building. However, there was no structural damage to the appartment building.

New program

Riverside Health Care Facilities, which oversees hospitals in Rainy River, Emo and Fort Frances has received funding to create a new patient safety program. Garage fire

Monday afternoon Rainy River and Dawson Fire Departments were called to the Darren and Jennelle Lowes residence on Byrnes Road, just north of Rainy River. There was a hole burned in the east wall of the garage and there were reports that a dog was inside. After the fire fighters had the fire pretty much out, a black dog did emerge from the hole in the wall and ran off into the woods. The dog was found later unharmed. Most of the structure was saved.

NWOSSA bound!

Four RRHS Owls are NWOSSA bound after going undfeated in NORWOSSA badminton last week. They are, fr. l. to r., Shauna Moen and Logan Jackson (Mixed Sr. Doubles), Skylar Arpin (Sr. Girls Singles) and Hayley Arpin (Jr. Girls Singles).
