A picture is worth a thousand words!

While I don't have room to write a thousand words in this space each week, the photo you see here definitely is worth it. We have been trying to book this one site at our favourite campgrounds for three years in May. It is early enough to see the sunset from the site without the underbrush having grown in and boy was it worth the wait!
This is my future step-daughter Veronica Brown posing in front of Cass Lake and the sunset on Friday evening!

Enjoying the early summer weather

It appears that summer has arrived early this year and I am not complaining!
Over the weekend we sat on the deck every day and hosted people for my future step-son's birthday.

A great front page week!

If only every week was like this one!

Face to face is so much better!

In this highly technologically connected world it is rare that a day goes by that I do not communicate with my brother Pete.

We need more than chance

Economic development is something I have heard for years in Rainy River.

Roadkill of the smaller kind

Well last week I was teased quite a bit when I hit a raccoon with my car.
At first most people laughed when I told them that my car was incapacitated by a raccoon.

Leave the spawn alone

As per usual one could walk across the Rainy River by boat in places over the weekend.

Forgetting about winter

As the weather went over the weekend, I found myself wearing shorts on my deck twice, but that was not to be the case on Saturday when I went to cover the annual Easter Egg hunt at the Rainy River Community Centre.
More than a hundred kids were there ready to do crafts and participate in many fun activities.
However, many of them did not come dressed for the mix of weather we received. I saw some kids wearing winter coats and others with just sweatshirts on.

The dangers of a dry spring and summer

Late last week I travelled to Minneapolis to take my sweetheart to see a specialist there. It was routine follow up and went well.

We can all do our part with dogs

There have been many signs of spring in the past week or so.
The Rainy River has opened up, Canada Geese and Sea-gulls are back. All sites for sore eyes.
