MBI golf champ!

Dave Granzow won the 2nd annual Morson Bass International Golf Tourney at Spruce Creek Golf Course on Sunday. He shot a 43 and is seen here receiving his prize from course owner Laurie Pentney.

Musical donations!

Three RR citizens decided to bring a old time musical group to Rainy River recently and donate all the proceeds to the Rec. Centre and the RR Public Library. Last week they presented each group with $708.52. From left to right, Meghan Shanks-RR Rec. Director, Darlene Armstrong, Audrey Paulson, Betty Blight and Terri-Anne Lundgren-RR Public Library Board Chair. The Rec. Bd. plans to use the money to replace the chimney on the Rec. Ctr. and the Library may use it to buy some books for the hearing impaired.

With a little help from her friends

Madison Brown, 10, left, along with help from her friends Becky Brown, center, and Bethany Sinninghe, and family recently held a garage sale to raise awareness and money for diabetes. Madison was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last spring.

Madison's garage sale, held in Pinewood two Saturday's ago rasied $1,310.00 for diabetes! Over 100 people attended including Joy Gulbrandsen, Linda Armstrong and Donna Govier.

Sixth still closed

The bottom of Sixth St. remains closed, over two weeks longer than originally thought it would be as work continues on the lift station for the town's sewer system. The temporary pumps can be seen sitting behind the fence in the middle of the road.

Uncertain future

Operating since 1930, the grocery store in Bergland may soon be no more. Current operator Karen Sepers will not be renewing her lease when it expires Aug. 31st. However concerned citizens are trying to come up with a solution to keep its doors open before that happens.

Pop up float

The Browns enjoyed a ride in a former pop up camper converted to float for the Bergland Family Fun Day parade on Aug. 8th. They were pulled by Roy Jolicouer on his 1947 AR John Deere tractor. He won 1st in Tractor Category!

Momma mia!

That is what Anne Mailloux said when she was on her way to Fort Frances to see the show Momma Mia in Fort Frances last Thursday. The trailer apparently came off the truck near Barwick.
