Motocross track looking for someone to build in RR

Mike Scheibler, owner of Tamarack Motocross Track north of Emo, is excited for the first full year of dirt bike racing there.

And he’s set dates for the racing competitions—July 1, Aug. 5-6, and Sept. 8-9.

“They shouldn’t interfere with other race events or local activities,” Scheibler noted.

Barwick student off to National Science Fair

Perhaps one day a young person from the area schools will take their science fair project and make a real difference in the lives of all Canadians. Mitchell Haw of Sturgeon Creek School in Barwick has done a project that could make a difference for trees along roadways and that has earned him a berth into the National Science Fair Competition in Saginaw, Que. May 13-21st.

Water safe to drink again at Our Lady of the Way School

The Northwest Catholic District School Board would like to announce that all restrictions placed on drinking water at Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton have been lifted. The school’s water treatment system was converted to an utra-violet system in November 2005 and since that time has been encountering Psudomonas Aeeruginosa in water samples.

RRHS students qualify for badminton NORWOSSAs

On Thursday April 6, the RRHS Badminton team sent 26 participants to Red Lake-Ear Falls for the NORWOSSA qualifying tournament.
Only the top 3 teams in each division advance to the NORWOSSA championships in Atikokan on April 12.

Hampton warns of higher hydro rates to come

NDP Leader Howard Hampton is sounding the alarm about another Dalton McGuinty hydro rate hike.
Today, McGuinty warned Ontarians to brace for higher electricity rates this spring – that despite an election promise to freeze hydro rates at 4.3 cents through 2006. It will be the premier’s third hydro rate hike.
