Local skater considered a role model

Local figure skater, Molly Tharalson, wrapped up the 2004-05 season last week at the annual Border Skating Club banquet in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Molly received two awards from the Club this year. She received the Congenial Skater Award. This trophy is voted on by the other senior skating members of the club. This was the third year in a row that Molly has received this award from her peers. She also received the Carrie Seline Award. This trophy is given to the skater who portrays the best role model though their actions towards others, exhibits a positive attitude, coaches younger skaters, and exhibits a true love of skating throughout the year.

SCAP students raise over $8,600 for famine relief

The 2005 SCAP 30 Hour Famine was a tremendous success.
It took place at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Rainy River and at the Rainy River High School.

Record wins award

After making dramatic changes to the layout and content of the Rainy River Record last year, it appears the efforts have paid off.
On Friday the Record received word that it has received a Blue Ribbon for General Excellence in its circulation class.

Councillor resigns Larry Armstrong served Rainy River for more than 13 years

After more than 13 years on Rainy River’s town council, Larry Armstrong has called it quits.
Armstrong tendered his resignation last Tuesday mid-way through his fifth term.

18th Railroad Daze to be a week later

Despite rumours to the contrary, there will be a Rainy River Railroad Daze Festival this summer.
With the centennial celebrations virtually derailing the event last year, organizers were discouraged to say the least last year with participation in RR Daze. However, after discussions at a recent Recreation Board meeting the board decided to press ahead with the 18th annual Railroad Daze.

Last time we noted that your liver is an amazing storehouse. But it has a lot more functions than that.
The liver had a great deal to do with the digestion of fats. It produces bile salts.

Soccer fever has hit Rainy River!
So far 85 kids ages 5-12 have signed up in Rainy River for a newly formed youth soccer league.
